Psychodynamic
&
Psychoanalysis

The psychodynamic approach to counselling is a form of psychotherapy with its roots in traditional psychoanalysis, which was pioneered by Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud as a clinical method for treating psychopathology, a term meaning mental disorders.

When undertaking psychodynamic counselling, I will help you to explore your problems in a way that makes reference to the past, in terms of the potential ‘unconscious’ conflicts or issues that are relevant to what you are experiencing today. Free association and dream interpretation are commonly used.

Psychodynamic theory states that events in our childhood have a great influence on our adult lives, shaping our personality. Events that occur in childhood can remain in the unconscious, and cause problems as adults.

Personality is shaped as the drives are modified by different conflicts at different times in childhood (during psychosexual development).

The psychology of handwriting is known as graphology.

Your handwriting reveals much more than you might imagine.

Your handwriting can give away clues about hundreds different personality traits based on the way you space your letters, how you sign your name, and even how you connect the letter 'o' and 's' to other letters in a word.

It can even be used to identify potential health problems including schizophrenia, high blood pressure as well as how much energy you have.
